Why ANOTHER meditation course?
Why ANOTHER Course?
Meditation is not a new thing. It's not even a new thing for us in the modern western world. It could seem that another online meditation course is the LAST thing we need. But we beg to differ.
Everyone knows that meditation is good for them. So few people actually meditate.
Why?
One, because it's boring. If you don't know how to do it, it feels like you are sitting there trying to do nothing, which is literally impossible.
Meditation is not simply "not thinking" or non-acting. It is an activity done with inner faculties, like inner muscles that need to be discovered and reclaimed and trained and strengthened.
Meditation should be delicious. For most people, it's not only not delicious, it's a little bit like torture. This course will teach you many techniques of meditation, how to create your own effective techniques, and how to love meditation.
A second reason people don't do it is because people don't do it. In today's world, sitting and meditating, doing something with our inner faculties but resting our outer faculties (without simply sleeping) is so counterintuitive and countercultural.
We have to pause the stream of our outer life to discover and get into the stream of our inner life. This course will give you a TON of support for 30 days of guided practice. That's a great jump start to get you on your way to having juicy meditation in your life.
A third reason people don't do it is because it sucks. For most people, when they don't know how to sit and how set up their sitting practice, it's uncomfortable - even painful. This is totally avoidable. Over the years, people have been led to believe that they have to sit in an uncomfortable position to get into deep meditation. It's just not true. We will teach you how to sit in a comfortable way so you can glide into meditation and not beat your body up to do so.
Deep Enjoyable and Regular
This isn't just another course. And it isn't really an intro course. If you're brand new you're totally welcome and it's so good you're doing this instead of something else. But we're trying to get people to approach meditation with these three important qualities:
Depth - meaning it's actually effective. When you meditate something happens, your inner state changes and you move something within your inner being. The sessions are deep enough and long enough to actually do something for you.
Enjoyment - meaning you like the practice, you enjoy it. There is pleasure in meditating. More importantly, there is no harm in the practice, you're not hurting yourself - even a little. It's important you look forward to the practice itself, not just the promise of a result.
Regularity - meaning you actually do it, and do it frequently. Every day is a really good frequency. But even if you can't manage every single day, you're doing it a lot and enough to get some benefit. There is a cumulative effect with deep meditation, but you have to keep coming back. Meditation works, but you have to work it.
The Benefits
Having a deep, enjoyable, regular meditation practice in your life is like having access to best mood medicine, the best sleep aid, your own personal energy healer, your own personal psychic advisor, the fountain of youth, and a your own most sacred temple all in one.
Mood: Your mood improves because the meditation acts like an energetic Zamboni machine. The Zamboni is the machine they use to clean the ice on ice rinks between skating sessions. Your inner terrain is smoothed and cleansed. Tensions are released and energetic build up is removed. Negative thought patterns are interrupted and you get to put yourself into better inner energetic frequencies.
Sleep: Nearly everyone sleeps better when they have a deep meditation practice in their life. The mind and emotions become more flexible and more shiftable. When it's time to sleep, you can shift into that gear and let go. And, in the cases when you need to sleep or get back to sleep, meditation is a VERY effective way to help that to happen.
Energy Healing: When we do deep meditation, we are working with our own inner energy, not just smoothing it out and clearing out debris, but also connecting our inner energy with the sacred, healing, high frequency energy of the Divine. Meditation can be like a deep soaking in sacred healing energy. You'll learn how to connect with and work with energy in a very personal and custom fit way.
Psychic Advisor: When we do deep meditation, we tap into that part of ourselves where our "extra sensory perception" is rooted. Our intuition gets stronger and clearer and louder. In meditation we can ask questions and get answers. Signs appear. Messages come. Deep meditators learn to keep a journal nearby their cushion to capture the diamonds and gold that come up when we sit.
Fountain of Youth: Studies show and our experience bears out - meditation makes us young. It takes off our energetic crustiness, our stuckness, our long standing old bad energies that make us age faster. Of course, it's great for our heart and lungs and brain and nervous system, but there's something else too. Every time we meditate deeply we are renewed, rejuvenated from within. It's an energy thing.
The Inner Temple: The ancient yogis who developed meditation we're doing it as part of their beauty regimen. They were meditating to connect with the Divine. The yogis learned that the Divine Power that people call God or Goddess or Grace is within - not just in theoretical way. When we get beneath the layers of our mind and emotions and personality we find that our core is nothing but Divine energy. We learn to relate to that in meditation, and if we have a relationship with a form of the Divine, we learn to use or practice to have the most intimate connections with the Divine in there.
The Process: Learning, Practicing, Absorbing
We use the traditional method of learning called (in Sanskrit) Shravaṇa, Manana, Nididhyāsana. First we hear a teaching, we learn new ideas and new approaches and insights about the practice. Then we practice them. We work with the ideas and (literally) sit with them. Finally, we assimilate the new ideas and the practice becomes ours. It fits into our life as it is and helps us in the unique ways it needs to.
We have 30 days to work together. You take the course and the lessons into your life and practice every day. There is one video lesson per week. And one live q and a with Harshada on Zoom every week which is recorded. If you want to binge the lessons and see them all in one shot you can, but I suggest you give yourself the pacing of one main lesson per week, with daily practice in-between. I don't think meditators need to absolutely practice every day but I do recommend it for this course. We're working with Insight Timer to have a daily boost for the practice. The idea is that you'll not only get all the new insights and approaches and the effect of a month of practice, but you'll also establish a habit.
The Spirit - Sincere But not Serious
Please have fun with the course. Take it seriously but don't become serious while doing it. If you miss a day of practice, don't beat yourself up. You'll have the course forever, you can also review whatever you want. We want you to really "go for it" with this course and get the most of it and get a big blast of support for your practice, but we don't want to give you stress or something else to worry about or feel pressurized about.
Get Ready!
This course, if you really do it, is going to change your approach and relationship with meditation. And then, as you bring deep meditation into your life, it's going to change everything - for the better - in the subtle, sweet, sun-shiny way deep meditation always does.
